Indigenous Language Keeping at Allan Gardens [Consultative Launch]
Allan Gardens is an important gathering place for Indigenous communities from across Turtle Island, especially those whose traditional and treaty territories we are on today. The Friends of Allan Gardens prioritizes support for Indigenous cultural and linguistic reclamation initiatives in public space.
In an ongoing project, we are working with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Language Carriers, and the arts community to learn, document, and share plant names and stories with the community.
This initiative encourages visitors to engage with Indigenous language learning, ensuring these words are heard, seen, and felt on this land, forever.
