Three Sisters
Audio Clip of Donna Powless, Cayuga, Six Nations introducing herself, and sharing the Cayuga names of corn (onę́hęˀ), beans (osáheˀdaˀ), and squash (ohnyǫ́hsaˀ). Recorded at a Friends of Allan Gardens program on June 22nd, 2023.
Donna also reminded us of the story of when Skywoman was buried by her sons. They planted tobacco on the mound over her head, strawberries by her heart, and corn, beans, and squash throughout her body.
